Best Apps to Put Subtitles on Your Videos

Want to make your videos more accessible to others? Here’s some great apps that you can use to put subtitles on your videos!

  1. Inshot

Inshot is my favorite go-to app for making quick and easy subtitle videos. It’s free on the app store, but there is a Pro version you can get. The captions are not auto-generated, so you do have to put in all the work. That being said, there is a lot of customization that can be done in app. You can change font size, color, and put shadow.

2. Adobe Spark

Adobe Spark allows you to either manually add subtitles to your video, or they have an automatic subtitle generator. Their automatic subtitle generator allows you to upload your video. Then it gets to work by transcribing and synchronizing the subtitles quickly and almost instantly. It then allows you to check and optimize the subtitles it generated.

3. Adobe Premiere Rush

The simplified version (and free version) of its sister, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Premiere Rush is an app that you can put right on your phone and edit videos easily. The difference between this and Adobe Spark? Adobe Spark is catered more towards social media. This is purely for videos and is, again, a very simplified version of the desktop version of Adobe Premiere Pro, an industry standard for editing films and videos.

4. iMovie

Say what you will about iMovie, but it is probably the easiest app to navigate when it comes to editing…and it’s free. iMovie gives you 14 text templates to use in order to put subtitles on your videos. There’s not much room for creativity, but again, it’s great for people just starting out.
